Kensington – Front Garden Perfection

Kensington – Heritage requirements and Customer Wishes in Balance

This heritage property was in need of a sensitive redesigning of the front yard.

Before any changes could be undertaken a DA approval was required. One of the council requirements was to make sure the property frontage was in keeping with the rest of the street.

Once the design was approved by council we installed the new front fence and motorised gates. For the experienced Growing Rooms team it was a stimulating project as it is always rewarding to work within Sydney’s heritage areas and find the balance between the customer’s wishes and council requests.

A new carport and cedar gates were installed to meet the owner’s call for more privacy and shady car parking.

The granite crazy paving of the pathway as well as the pebbles on the driveway work with the brick colours of the house. The front fence picks up the same pattern.

The plant sections with traditional hedges and flowers respond to the classic appearance of the house.
Subtle garden lighting gives the front yard a sophisticated look during nighttime.
